Abstract

|
|
Mental illness and alcohol/drug use disorder are chronic brain diseases that repeat relapse and recovery. Therefore, mental illness and alcohol/drug use-related repetitive offences could not be prevented by the punishment alone of the traditional criminal justice system without being accompanied by systematic therapeutic intervention. The objective of this article was to propose an active participation and cooperation with stakeholders of criminal justice system for treating mental illness and alcohol/drug use-related offences.
